To mark the 2026 FIFA World Cup, taking place from June 11 through July 19 across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, amateur radio operators have launched the international “2026 World Soccer Tournament Special Event Stations” program. The event involves all 16 host cities, with special event stations operating on HF, VHF, and UHF bands using both analog and digital modes.
Each host city is represented by a unique special event callsign. Stations will be active throughout the tournament, with increased activity on match days. Operators who make contacts with these stations can earn commemorative QSL cards as well as certificates awarded for working a certain number of host-city stations.
A highlight of the program is its exceptionally well-organized website, where all information related to the event is presented in a clear and easy-to-navigate format. Visitors can find station listings, operating schedules, award rules, QSL card designs, and current activity statistics all in one place.
