Let’s Say NO to HOA Restrictions Together!

The American Radio Relay League (ARRL) has launched a nationwide grassroots campaign aimed at passing a federal law that restores equal rights for amateur radio operators in the United States to install antennas on their property.

Currently, many amateur radio operators are restricted by homeowners association (HOA) rules that prohibit or severely limit the ability to put up antennas—even if they are hidden in trees, placed in attics, mounted on vehicles, or disguised as flagpoles.

The new Amateur Radio Emergency Preparedness Act was reintroduced in Congress in February 2025 (bills H.R.1094 in the House of Representatives and S.459 in the Senate). This is a bipartisan initiative intended to guarantee amateur radio operators the right to install antennas—the same right already enjoyed by users of over-the-air television, wireless internet, or flagpoles.

To make this law a reality, ARRL is calling on all amateur radio operators to take action. Thanks to the dedicated website https://send-a-letter.org/hoa/ , anyone can send a ready-made letter to their representative and senators in just a few minutes.

Every voice matters—members of Congress need to know that this issue is important to amateur radio operators.
