The American Radio Relay League (ARRL) has officially joined America250 as a Supporting Partner in the nationwide commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the United States in 2026. America250 marks the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776 and will highlight the nationās history, innovation, and the individuals who have shaped its development. ARRLās participation recognizes amateur radio as an important part of Americaās technological progress and long-standing tradition of public service.
To commemorate this historic milestone, ARRL has introduced the America250 Worked All States (WAS) Award, a year-long operating challenge for 2026. Amateur radio operators worldwide are encouraged to make and confirm two-way contacts with stations in all 50 U.S. states during the anniversary year. Confirmations must be submitted through ARRLās Logbook of The World (LoTW) system. Operators who successfully confirm contacts with all 50 states will qualify for the special America250 WAS Award. Additional endorsements are available for those who contact W1AW portable stations operating from each state, contact ARRL-affiliated club stations in every state, or complete the challenge using multiple operating modes such as CW, phone, and digital.
This initiative offers a meaningful way for amateur radio operators to take part in the nationās 250th anniversary celebration while promoting operating excellence, nationwide engagement, and the spirit of fellowship that defines the amateur radio community.
